Sumangalashweeainsi Vispasana Meditation Center
In Myanmar Buddhist society, monks can practice for the support of the lay-devotees. Offering meals by each devotee is an attempt to support for the existance of religion. They will get merit very much. In this world, as long as offering meal does not stop, the religion will exist. So, the gratitude of lay-devotees is enormous. In Myanmar Buddhist society, when the monks are going round for alms-food from one house to another, they take for his morning meal just enough to enable him to perform his meditation practice and Pāli Tipitaka learning. Indeed, a spoonful of rice is not a burden for a Myanmarese Buddhist donor, the monks are content with whatever food they receive, whether good or bad, and thus the feel no craving for food.
